Jr. Past's Comments...

Hello everyone, Here are my two cents/sense

October 10th is our MCL Breakfast Toys fundraiser.  Starting at 0900 and finish at 1100.  Volunteers are needed and may show up as early as 0730.  At this point we have enough "food handlers" permits plus the VFW's permit for cooks and kitchen helpers.

Our coffee stops are over this weekend and a report will follow.  It appears as though we may have to sit out 2010 to get a better handle on 2011 availability.  We will wait for this as well.

Our rosters need to be updated.  IF you have moved in the past 2 years or changed phone numbers, please email, call or write your information to the Adj/Pay so that he may update our rosters.  This helps when we need volunteers for various events to include funerals.

Otherwise, all is well in the world of the Marine Corps League Spokane.  Let's get ready for fall and another fast approaching Toys for Tots campaign.

Randy

From the Desk of Doug

First let me thank
all who attended last months meeting, largest gathering of Marines in the VFW for a meeting in quite some time.  The meeting was presided over by Commandant Jim in good fashion
and ended early considering all the business that was discussed.  THANKS Jim.

The coffee stop on September 25, 26 & 27 came off without a hitch other than your Sergeant at Arms forgot where the shutoff switch for the headlights was in his car. Friday was a very busy day.  Saturday
was a little slow in the afternoon when the wind blew and the top soil from the south headed north.  I think all the drivers wanted to ride the tail wind to Spokane or maybe they didn't want to get out of the car and get their hair mussed up.  Sunday things got back to normal.  Thanks to all who signed up and showed up for their shifts.  So far we have two committed for next year July 6, 7, and 8 and the week of September 27-30.  These are both eastbound at Sprague Lake.  Will need lot of help to cover the September dates.

Net deposit, $761.99; Major expenses were tires $43.48 and cookies $53.56.  Full financial report will be given at the October meeting.

The fall staff meeting will be held in Yakima on October 3rd (a Saturday) beginning at 1000 (10 am) for those long away from the 24 hour clock. I will be driving down on early Saturday am with some of our officers riding along.

Your thought for the month: "LIFE'S TOUGH, It's even tougher if you're stupid".  (John Wayne)
